Matthew Mikulic
Matt has a Bachelor of Science degree from the department of Viticulture and Enology at California State University in Fresno, California. International wine-making experience in Australia, Argentina, California, and Croatia, Matt continues to consult on winery and vineyard projects across the Okanagan Valley. Besides his role with Three Sisters Winery, he also has a winery and vineyard in Croatia. Not to mention he is extremely good looking!
Rebecca Mikulic
Rebecca's passion for wine only grew stronger when her parents moved to the Naramata Bench. Studying with the International Sommelier Guild, Wine Spirit Education Trust (Diploma level) and her Marketing Degree, Rebecca has international sales and marketing experience in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. Rebecca’s passion for wine led her into the viticulture industry where she is now President of Earlco Vineyards Ltd, farming not only Three Sisters Winery fruit but also for many other wineries in the Okanagan Valley.
Jazzmyn Kahgee
Jazzmyn is originally from Niagara, Ontario where she learned early on that she was passionate about Canadian wine and local experiences. She honed her hospitality expertise in a variety of positions, from restaurants in Toronto to hotels across Australia and many places in between, finally heading back to Niagara to earn her WSET Level 3. Jazzmyn felt that to be a true Canadian wine advocate, she needed to explore the Okanagan, making her way to Three Sisters Winery in early 2021.
It Takes a Village and a Vineyard...
Three Sisters Winery is the brainchild of myself, Rebecca Mikulic, my husband Matthew Mikulic, and my parents, John and Liz Lawrence. After working many years in the wine industry, I met a handsome man who by chance was a winemaker. Matt blew me away with his knowledge of wine and winemaking experiences in California, Australia and Europe. We decided to put our roots down in Penticton and start a winery - needless to say, this was a lot of hard work!
We produced our first vintage in the barn on my parents’ vineyard in 2014. These wines were mostly custom labels for local vineyard owners, but it was a start. We had family and friends hand labeling every bottle - it takes a village they say! Everyone was so impressed with the quality of wine that we decided to push forward with our own label, Three Sisters. This is not only the name of my parent’s vineyard, but we thought it was a fitting name for our dream as both Matt and I have a trio of sisters in our families and we knew we would be leaning on all of them for support along the way. In 2016 we welcomed a new addition to the “family,” the vineyard on Munson Avenue which we transformed into the Three Sisters Winery that you see today.
Our belief is to make delicious wines for everyone to enjoy, whether that be alone on a porch with a good book or at a fabulous dinner party with friends and family. Balancing elegance and approachability, we want our wines to delight both connoisseurs and connoisseurs-in-the-making. Our wines are made with a modest, hands-off approach, letting the fruit speak for itself from ground to glass. Matt believes that the wine should be a true reflection of the vineyard’s fruit, or as he puts it, “wines should have flavours that shout from the glass reflecting where it’s from.”
While our origin story is rooted in family and sibling hood, we have learned over the years that wine runs as thick as blood. Our concept of family has evolved to include everyone who walks through our tasting room doors. Come by and share in our passion for chats and Chardonnay!
