As grape growers and producers of wines from 100% BC grown fruit, we wanted to take a moment to address the recent challenges faced by our industry due to a significant cold snap affecting wine crops in British Columbia.
Recent news articles have highlighted the devastating impact of unseasonably cold temperatures on vineyards, resulting in substantial crop losses for many in the region. This sudden and unexpected freeze has left vineyard owners and wineries grappling with the aftermath, as they assess the extent of the damage and chart a path forward.
The unpredictable nature of weather patterns underscores the importance of proactive measures to mitigate risks and safeguard our vineyards against future challenges and we continue to research best protection systems and implementing sustainable farming practices that promote vine health and resilience. We remain committed to adapting and innovating in response to evolving environmental conditions.
In times like these, it becomes even more crucial to come together as a community, offering support and solidarity. We at Three Sisters Winery and many other wineries in the Okanagan have plenty of wine and exciting events lined up for the summer season. We encourage wine enthusiasts everywhere to show their support for wineries in British Columbia by purchasing their wines, visiting their tasting rooms, and spreading awareness of the challenges they are facing.
We invite you to join us in celebrating the beauty of the season and the joy of sharing great wine with friends and family.
Thank you for your continued support,
Rebecca
